Mastersoft Contest Winners.

I was very excited by this Mastersoft contest, because it gave us an opportunity to highlight a fantastic new game which is due to be released on June 1, Mastersoft Brain School.  Brain School joins a fantastic stable of games, including Sudoku, Kakuro, and several classic game packs.  The winners of this contest will be able to select from Sudoku, Kakuro or Brain School.

Before I announce the winners, I wanted to note how odd contests at JAMM can be.  It seems, no matter what the contest, participants run hot and cold.  I typically will see the same names winning several contests in a row and then they won’t come up again for months.  That being said, winners are always selected completely randomly.

The winners of the Mastersoft contest are:

SPMWinkel, MelvynAdam, JPJH, Technogeek, and AmyM.

Congratulations to the winners.  And thanks to Mastersoft for sponsoring this fantastic contest.  Those who did not win, don’t worry, we will have plenty more contests coming soon, including SplashData and WebIS in the next week.  Winners, watch for an email from JAMM in the next couple of days.

Totally cool! After losing or not participating (in) some contests before I seem to be in a winning mood again! Thanks Doug and Mastersoft!

By the way, I’ve been trying the beta from Brain School and it’s really cool! I can recommend it, especially to Doug! ;)
*cough*review*cough* :p
Have a great weekend JAMMers!

I’m with Brandon. I don’t think I have ever gotten an A on plastic puzzles. That and Class Roster, I think, are the hardest games.

Once you crack the idea behind placing the most difficult piece, you’ll find yourself using that more often. Plastic Puzzle is actually my favourite, but I don’t think a lot of people will like me for saying that! :P

Level 1 puzzle 2 hint – don’t read on if you don’t want to!
***In puzzle 1, you used the 90 degree ‘corner’ of the most annoying piece to insert another piece into it. For level 2, don’t insert another piece into it, but make this ‘corner’ part of the outside of the figure. There are only two places where that can be, and those two places are just a matter of mirroring the piece (so there are two identical, mirrored, solutions).***

Hello spmwinkel, I just couldn’t deal with lesson1, level 2,puzzle 3, do you have any idea on it? I don’t think it’s solvable cos I always feel lack of something.
I’ll be very thankful if you send me email on the solution.

Plastic Puzzle is a real killer. All the shapes are quite hard to figure out. Work with the long odd shape 1st and figure out where you think it should go. You’ll kick yourself when you find the solution. For me some took ages but they look so easy when you get them done

Just completed the last level. 16 puzzle’s to do. If you get this far you’ll work out the last 16. 10 out of 10 to the person that came up with this game.

I love this game! I am so stuck on the Plastic Puzzle, year 1, level 2, game 3. Any hints or solutions would be awesome!

The small triangle will be used on the left side, the large quite regular shape (which also has a smaller version) will be used to create the right side of the solution.
The small version of the previous shape, and the irregular shape, will together form the part inbetween + the block on top of the shape.

Hehe nope we don’t work that way! If you haven’t finished puzzle one, you can’t have accessed puzzle two, so you’re just asking us to give you cheats without even trying puzzle 2 for yourself! You don’t seem to want to try puzzle 2 for yourself, so if you see no fun in trying to solve the puzzles yourself, I see no fun in helping by giving hints, and certainly not in giving solutions. ;)

This is an awesome game and I love Plastic Puzzle.

Can someone please confirm that Level 3, Puzzle 8 is not glitched? I have it solved, the shape looks just like the silhouette but the game does not complete. I’ve tried rotating the whole thing thinking that maybe there is a restriction on it but other puzzles don’t mind being mirrored – I’ve gone back and checked.

If someone has gotten past that puzzle, I’ll go back and check for another solution but I’ve tried 6-7 times now and always come back to the same one.

* IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE ASKING HELP *

Hello all :)

I’m getting a bit tired of sending every person here an individual e-mail with screenshot, so I’m stopping that.
I’ve put up some screenshots for the first three stars on my blog, you can check these visual hints here:

http://spmwinkel.wordpress.com/2007/12/18/brain-school-plastic-puzzle-help/

No full solutions, I only reveal the position of two pieces, and only for the puzzles in the first three stars.

Thank you.

I would suggest that anyone seeking solutions to specific puzzles should check out the Mastersoft Support Forums.

Dec 18, 2007

Defenitely :)
Your comment was from before my post so it would be sad if you wouldn’t get answered. I’m going to play the 4th star right away and report back when I get to puzzle 5 :)

spmwinkel
Dec 18, 2007

Wow that’s defenitely the hardest until that point!
You know the “annoying” piece, the one with 5 sides?
Make the longest side go from the bottom left to the top right. There will be a line on the bottom, and the corner of that figure will be at the top right. To verify that you’ve positioned it correctly:
there should be 45 degree angles at the total top and at the bottom left.

That’s one piece. :P

Then the second: take the largest piece left, and position its longest side against the longest side of the piece you already positioned.
You already had a horizontal line at the bottom from the first piece, and the second piece should be positioned so that the it creates a horizontal line at the top.
Then add the triangle to the left and the other shape at the right, those form the points that are sticking out.

That was a though one!

That one was a real challenge for me as well, in the meantime I finished the rest + the 5th star again, so you should be able to do so as well! ;)
Good luck :)
