Create your own Treo ringtones with MiniTones Via Lifehacker

Obviously (if you hit the link) you’ll see I’m quite a few days behind on my Lifehacker reading… but if you own a Palm OS based device this looks like a great little piece of freeware!

Palm OS Treo only: MiniTones turns any MP3 file into a Treo ringtone.

This 51K app runs right on your Treo. Just select any MP3 file, then choose Trim to select the portion you want to use as your ringtone. (Because the MP3 gets copied into your Treo’s main memory, you’ll probably want to pare it down.) MiniTones uses simple tap-and-drag sliders to select the start and end positions for your ringtone, and even shows you the resulting file size. When you’re done, just head to the Treo’s Sound & Alert settings and choose the new ringtone.

Sweet! Ringtone creation doesn’t get any easier than this. MiniTones is free; it requires a Palm OS-based Treo. —Rick Broida
