Yahoo Mail: Saying Goodbye to the Storage Meter

yahoomail

Yahoo Mail after a whole decade of service is about to redefine web mail storage as we know it. The last time we heard of anything near this calibre was when Google announced it’s GMail service to have 1 full gigabyte of storage back when everybody else was offering 2-15MB. So what’s Yahoo up to? It’s planting the dynamite charges as we speak as metered storage for email is about to be a thing of the past!

So when’s it coming? We’re not sure yet, but it’s bound to be soon! Now if they could find a way to make a Yahoo Mail drive just like they have a GMail drive….

From Yahoo Mail:

  • Free unlimited storage – Send and receive to your heart’s content without dropping a penny.
  • More of what you love – Enjoy limitless storage space for photos, attachments, messages, and more.
  • Less to throw out – No need to fret about keeping your inbox under the storage limit

Sounds nice, except:
Yahoo is telling us that sometime this summer they are dropping photo storage, suggesting users move their photos to Flickr (owned by Yahoo) costing $24 a year, or other photo services.
And, the vast majority of users will be hard-pressed to fill up even 1GB even if they never delete all their forwarded forwarded emails AND their attendant replies.
