Windows Update: Now Possibly a Malware Installer

hdr_welcome

Where do you want to go today? Introducing Windows Malware, a new exploit for Windows Update. According to BBC, this exploit uses the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), trojans can piggyback with BITS to download malicious files bypassing any and all firewalls.

So what can be done? Protect yourself and tell Windows not to automatically download and install updates. Let Microsoft only notify you of updates and you choose to download and install what you need.

The proof of concept is already out there….how long will it be before someone decides to use it?
