ChargePod: 6 Way MultiCharger

In today’s link crazy age of hubs, daisy chained hubs, and even more hubs of network wires, USB, and Firewire, now comes a mobile device charging hub – the Chargepod.
The Chargepod is a device that allows up to 6 devices (cell phones, PDAs, headsets, etc.) to be simultaneously charged while keeping everything organized. Using voltage regulating technology with custom adaptors for your device, if your device can be connected, it can be charged! The Chargepod was designed for small gadgets, not huge power suckers like notebook computers – so please don’t try to charge those power hungry beasts as it’s design is to charge only devices within 5-6 volts.
- Charges up to 6 devices at the same time
- Small, portable and lightweight
- Eliminates the clutter from having multiple chargers
- Works with cell phones, Bluetooth® headsets, PDAs and other mobile devices
The Chargepod is available for $49.95. Adaptors are not included and cost $9.95 each.

Is it just me or do lines like “Adaptors are not included and cost $9.95 each.” leave a bad taste in other people’s mouths too?
Honestly, the concept is a great one but these manufacturers need to stop milking us. Ten dollars for a 40c component is outrageous. Since the big marketing push for this is “6-way” they’re asking you to spend $110 to use this to its full potential. Another company that doesn’t respect the consumer enough to get my attention.

I agree, Melvyn. I’m realy not sure why it doesn’t hook up with standard USB so that you can just use your regular USB charging cable with it.
If you wanted to use all six slots, you would actually spend more for the six adaptors than the charger itself.

Small manufacturers like us that launch products in limited volume have much higher manufacturing costs and therefore the pricing simply has to be initially higher. It’s a premium product at this time, until it can be sold through retailers.
