New and Improved Baseball Stats…Brought To You By Bluetooth.

I am a huge baseball fan. In fact, I am one of the guys you’ll see in the stands missing plays because I am so busy recording the previous play on my scorecard. Nothing pleases me more at a game than recording a classic 6-4-3 double play.
Well now, Minute Maid Park in Houston is using wireless technology to make the stats geek experience at the ballpark even more enjoyable. According to a report on Gearlog, fans in the ballpark can use their Bluetooth enabled devices to download still photos, animations, video and audio clips, ticket offers, and links all for free.
No word yet on what other information might become available. However, I am personally hoping for personalized stats. That way, the next time I record a backwards K on my scorecard (called strike 3) I can connect wirelessly to learn that the Might Casey just doesn’t like those pitches.
I know we have several readers in the Houston area. Do us a favor, the next time you go to a game, bring your device, check out the information in this new service and report your thoughts. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Washington Nationals will pick up on this as well. It might almost make up for the shattering loss of Alfonso Soriano.

I too am a man with a baseball problem especially when it comes to the Killer B’s of Houston. With the addition of a new son towards the end of last season I missed my first opening day at the juice box since the Astro’s started playing there and have not been to nearly as many games as usual this year. I always have my mobile device on me, Cingular 8525, so I will let you know what’s available on the new bluetooth service at Minute Maid next time I make it down there. Let’s just hope it’s not until Father’s Day! Enjoy your favorite team this season and GO ASTRO’S!!

Christian, congrats on your new son.
I hope you make it to a few games. If you do, please be sure to let us know what you think of the new BT features at the ballpark.
I will be suffering through a combined Pirates-Nationals losing season.:(
