Time to Reinvent the Laptop

Tim Bajarin of PC Magazine has written a great article called, "Time to Reinvent the Laptop."  The article starts off discussing his favorite small laptops that weigh under 3lbs and have 10 to 12" screens.

He then goes into the new breed of mobiles called UMPC, or Ultra Mobile Portable Computers like the OQO model 02, and Vulcan FlipStart.  These have 4-7" screens.  Though most UMPCs sold today are niche products, intel and Microsoft want to see the prices go down and reach a broader audience.

Does Mr. Bajarin have the secret to make UMPCs a succes?  Read his article and you’ll he’ll surprise you with his insight and knowledge.  And yes, he seems to have the answers.  It’s a great read.

You make a good point about lapttop technology and where it’s going. Right now its an exciting time for technology, particularly mobile technology covering laptops, mobile phones and PDAs. Also the web and they way they all work with the web. I get my laptops and peripherals from Portable Universe and I can thoroughly recommend them. The best thing for people to do is to talk to them, let them know what your needs are (both current and future) and they will come up with the best laptop for you. I also get my blank DVDs there for my backup!

Lenovo will not gurantee us that we have cells that are not defective. In fact they have confirmed that our Lenovo battery packs have the same battery cells that are know to be contaminated. I am very upset that Lenovo is not doing a similar recall of the known contaminated cells!
