Enter the Dragon. I mean Adobe.

Every time I open an Adobe product, it seems to take several minutes.  I usually walk away in frustration and get lost in conversation with an office mate because I’m impatient and hate waiting.  Software should open and close and do its job.  Same with iTunes.  It takes forever to open.  So did MusicMatch when I used to use it for my iPod.  But MusicMatch was more intuitive than iTunes and nicer to use.  But the newest version of iTunes won’t let me use MusicMatch, so I’m stuck.

Now Adobe wants to make a new bloatware, oops, media software, for the computer.  Ok, all this reminds me of a quick story.  My father-in-law is a fancy guy, and he calls the family room his "media room."  Well la di frickin’ da!  It serves the same purpose as mine.  The point is, whatever you call it, make it work, and make it run fast.  And please, give it support for the iPod so I can use an alternative.

Back to Adobe…The player, dubbed Adobe Media Player (why not Adobe Family Room?) will provide support for a multitude of formats.  They might even open the door for the Adobe Download Music and Video Store.  Perhaps they can call it the Adobe Media Store!  No word on a release date.  I’m crossing my fingers in anticipation.

Let’s hear your comments about "Media Software."  Do you like it?  Hate it?

Adobe Media Player is not meant as a competitor against iTunes or MusicMatch as a music player. It is a competitor against other DRM CODEC creators such as Microsoft WMV, Apple QuickTime, and Real. Adobe Media Player only supports the Flash format and not a multitude of formats.

With the strong moves of a software Flash format based player, will there soon be a hardware device that plays the Flash format natively? Is this the beginning of an Adobe revolution as Flash can be used for game and application development as well as video and music?

For those struggling with the load times of Adobe Reader I heartily recommend Adobe Reader SpeedUp:

Or, instead of adobe reader try the awesome, quick Foxit Reader ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php ). Free version available.

Foxit is good stuff indeed. How did we get into talking about Adobe Readers when this is about a media player though? :grins:
