HiDef Music Downloads

The chief reason that I don’t buy downloaded music is that it only offered CD-quality (or better) music files. You had to be content with lossy compression. And I can hear the difference, especially at 128kbps. Sibilance sounds fishy. This is probably because that and similar sounds have a wide range of frequencies and one method of sound compression is to eliminate “unheard” harmonics. While this may pass for the vocals and musical instruments, you are going to hear it as soon as the drummer drops the hi-hat or hits the crash cymbal. It’s nice to know that online music outlets are finally coming into the 21st century.
