AT&T Cranks Up the Speed of HSDPA


AT&T, formerly Cingular, is the speed leader in the data upload/download speed market, even though they purportedly don’t have as much national coverage as Sprint does with their slower, but blanket covered EVDO Rev A.

Now Cingular is upping the ante.  They are upgrading their upload speeds gradually, throughout the year via software updates.  They expect to multiply the already fast speed with up to a five times factor.  And the better news is that they plan on adding up to 65 HSDPA markets in the country.  To compete with the likes of Sprint, they really need the coverage.
