Thanks to Solsie, over at Solsie.com for reminding me to post something about these releases.  Resco, which makes some incredibly popular programs is updating some of its most important programs: Resco Explorer and Resco Photo Viewer.  While they finalize the new versions, they have released a Beta version of each.  Click the links above to check out the Beta, or keep reading to see what is new.

RESCO EXPLORER 2007

General features:
  • Quick-search bar
  • Status bar
  • Customizable keyboard shortcuts
  • File Types Highlighting
  • Speed measuring for copying/moving/beaming
  • Customizable startup folder
Network drive mapping:
  • explicit user/password
  • optional drive name
  • permanent/virtual drive (connected on startup/first use)
Encryption:

Viewing encrypted files with built-in viewer (decryption in memory)

Bluetooth:

Remembers recently used Bluetooth devices (Microsoft Bluetooth stack only)

Today plugin:
  • running applications
  • smart movement using arrows
  • Add Document remembers last folder
Other improvements:
  • Delete confirmation — option "Do not use Recycle Bin"
  • Multi-selection mode and Drag’n'drop via keyboard shortcut (HW key)
  • Open With — option "Enclose path into quotes"
  • dialog font supports Japanese devices
  • copying write-locked files (e.g. pim.vol)
  • Folder Properties — recursive file attribute setting
