Palm Treo 750 Owners Get WM6 for FREE!

According to MobilitySite, Palm announced today that Palm Treo 750 owners around the world will have the chance to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 Professional. This free upgrade will be available later this year.

From the press release:

For AT&T customers, the update also will facilitate High-speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) capability – allowing faster data-download speeds on 3G/UMTS/HSDPA networks.

“Windows Mobile delivers to the small screen a rich and familiar experience that meets people’s work and life needs while on the go—all with a single device,” said Chris Hill, group product manager, Microsoft Corp. “We are excited to work closely with Palm to offer a Windows Mobile 6 update to existing Treo 750 users so that they can take advantage of new and enhanced productivity and advanced communication capabilities.”

I’ve only found comments as well. Where are you located? Currently the only ROM updates I have found are for service providers in Australia.

There’s also updates available for the Vodafone branded ones in the UK/Ireland as well as the unbranded (sold by Palm) versions.

Currently there is NOT one available for the AT&T branded version of the 750.
