Hey AT&T – I hereby reject your alternate reality and inject my own. Go fly a kite… I think you’ll find it much more pleasurable than the Monopolist World Dominatation "Pinky and the Brain" garbage you’re pulling now.

AT&T spokesman Clay Owen said NASCAR officials repeatedly have not allowed AT&T to switch from a Cingular logo to an AT&T logo because of their deal with Nextel, which sponsors NASCAR’s top series — the Nextel Cup.

Forgive me once again for being the pissy voice of reason here, but what the heck is the big fricken deal with this company? Who gives two farts to the wind that you bought Cingular? ** Which I personally believe never actually changed hands anyway but was just another pull the wool over our eyes action so we would think the mothership was actually destroyed **

What was wrong with leaving the name Cingular alone? I really fail to see how this in anyway assists AT&T – they are not going to gain any new customers just because the name is changing, it’s a giant waste of the company’s money to rebrand the entire thing to AT&T Mobilty LLC and a huge loss of brand recognition. Everyone knows the Cingular Logo. It is instantly recognizable and for most people doesn’t harbor any ill thoughts… where as when I see the AT&T logo, the first think I think of is:

I just don’t get it. Anyway, click the link below to read all about how AT&T is losing the ability to retain customers (and gain new ones) due to this logo issue. How about this AT&T … save the millions of dollars and re-invest it into your half-assed wireless data services. Then maybe you’ll gain a boat load of customers just because you have a great network instead of a pretty race car.  Oh … and just FYI – I’m going with AT&T for teh win on this one. Nascar doesn’t have a chance unless it was written into the sponsorship contract with Cingular.
