AT&T has expanded its Wi-Fi coverage with an addition of 13,000 hot spots worldwide. The software client used by their hot spot users has also been upgraded to version 6.9. Advantages of the new 6.9 client includes enhanced security, simplified logon, and the ability to connect to hot spots that are not AT&T owned and operated which normally require additional payment.

From the Network World article regarding new hot spot availability:

Some of the new U.S. locations include: Oakland International Airport, California; UC Davis Health System, California; Central Dupage Hospital, Ilinois; Louisville International Airport, Kentucky.; Memphis International Airport; Addison Conference and Theatre Centre, Texas; Bush International Airport, Texas; William P. Hobby Airport, Texas; Salt Lake City International Airport; Virginia Hospital Center; Tysons Galleria mall, Virginia; Milwaukee Airport; and the Juan Valdez Cafés in Washington, D.C., New York City and Seattle.

AT&T says it has added Wi-Fi coverage overseas in cities in Argentina, Bermuda, China Ecuador, Niger, Peru and South Korea.

This sure is great news for those who frequently travel – especially with all of those nice new shiny airport hot spots. It sure makes the time waiting for the next flight fly by.
