Sony Ericsson Puts Their Peanut Butter In My Chocolate With The Universal Remote Control Cellphone.
I am not usually a fan of posting news articles based upon patent information. Frequently, these patents are based upon protecting an idea, rather than a product which will ever see the light of day. They are simply too speculative.
Nonetheless, I could not pass up the opportunity to post on this peanut butter in my chocolate patent which I found on Gizmodo the other day. It seems Sony Ericsson has filed a patent for a combination device which is part universal remote control and part cell phone.
I love universal remotes. I have probably donated way too much money to that industry already. Then again, I also love my cell phone. Put the two together, and you have one heck of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. If it ever sees the light of day, this universal remote cell phone would feature:
- a touch-screen display
- pre-programmed interfaces for various components.
- easily downloadable interfaces for additional components
I’m not exactly holding my breath on this one, but maybe just keeping my fingers crossed. If this did become a reality, you could probably find it in my living room before too long. Which also begs the question, how do you control the TV if you are away from the house with your phone?
