New Linux Smartphone Looks Promising

Source: Pocketables.net

I don’t care much for the design and the spelling of its name makes me cringe, but the upcoming Phreedom phone by Malaysian company GUPP Technologies is still worth some serious consideration.

This is the Gupp Phreedom Mobile Linux based phone.

I think I’d have to agree with Jenn K. Lee on the looks and naming awkwardness – but also on the fact that this phone looks promising nonetheless.

The spec for this device has got some real strong points – here’s part of the Pocketables description:

Mobile Linux 2.6 kernel, 5-hour VoWiFi (voice over wi-fi) talk time, “double tri-band” GSM/GPRS backup connectivity, 312MHz PXA270 processor, 320MB flash and SDRAM, and 802.11b/g radio with support for 802.11i, WEP, and WPA.

Nice to see some news on a good Mobile Linux based device.  For more details, check out the Pocketables post HERE

Well design isn’t totally un-important of course, still nice to be able to get a nice looking device out of your pocket when you’re in the bus or train and start playing with it! ;)
