Is Your Device Getting Upgraded to WM6?

The real question is, do you want it to be upgraded?  This is not a desktop OS we’re talking about, where people have been beta testing it for over a year.  Conversely, the early adopters ARE the beta testers!  To be sure, I have a Dell Axim running wm2003se.  I am perfectly satisfied with it.  When wm5 came out, I remember watching people jump out of their shoes to pay $35 for the upgrade cd from Dell.  Then what happened?  There were nothing but problems.  The bluetooth stack didn’t work, there were memory problems, software incompatibilities and a host of other ills that had people outraged.  So I ask, do you want your system upgraded?

That’s not to mention the big IF.  IF.  As in IF you even are given a choice to upgrade.  Dell seems to be out of the game, so I may not even have a choice – not that I care – but others do, and may not have that choice with their manufacturer.  But what if you do?

Perhaps you should wait until the new OS is out for awhile and the kinks are worked out?  If you depend on your mobile device, then take my advice, and wait.  And smile.  Because when the next wave of early adopters begins screaming, you’ll know you made the right decision.

Thanks to Solsie for the wm6 link!
