I just got an email from Katrina at Proporta about a fantastic new contest they are running.  It seems one of their staff members (you’ll have to visit the site to find out which one) is also a member of the band Young Soul Rebels, a self-professed punk-indie band hailing from the 1980′s.  Don’t worry though, if you are thinking, "Come on Eileen," you must be kidding…the 1980′s?  Well, although they were founded in the 1980′s, their offer a thoroughly modern sound which I think a lot of you music lovers will enjoy.

You can purchase their 7" vinyl disc for $4.95 at Proporta, or enter Proporta’s new contest to win your own free copy.  [As an aside to our younger readers, in olden times, music was pressed onto vinyl discs called records.  This process cut grooves in the disc, which was then read by spinning it under a needle.  Both the disc and the needle were very fragile.  Vinyl discs were replaced in the 1970's and 80's with magnetic tapes which could be recorded at home, giving rise to the ever popular "mix tape".]
