Proporta Palooza!

The fine folks at Proporta sent us a variety of products to check out.  The best part is that we’re giving some of these away.  Stay tuned in the coming week for details!  Let’s tell you a little about Proporta.  They’ve been "designing and manufacturing the best PDA cases, cables, screen protectors, accessories as well as providing both serial and bluetooth GPS Solutions and keyboards for the past 10 years."  Indeed, looking through their product line I found creative solutions and found myself wondering why I hadn’t discovered them before.  You’ll see why momentarily.

These washable protectors are bright and clear.  Each kit contains a cleaining cloth and application  card.  My ipod is about five years old and scratched to hell.  Why didn’t I protect it?   Find them for $9.95.  Here’s the web page

Attached to the headphone out is a "Y Splitter" cable.  This allows two people to listen to the iPod or any item that fits that size jack, to listen to music.  It works with my Dell Axim as well.  I have an old one from Radio Shack that I use and that one always would be louder in one headset than the other.  This one yielded equal sound in both headsets.  Further, it is flexible and is longer than my old model.  Plus, at only $5.95 it’s well worth having in your gadget bag.  Link.

The Proporta Colored Stereo Headphones work with your MP3 player, pda, laptop and even the iPod.  I tested them at the JAMM Testing Centers, and I was pleased with the sound.  They have more highs and lows than iPod headphones, and are a bit smoother.  They come in several colors and cost $24.95. Link.  Just a quick note, the next item I’ll show you is called the Cable Tidy, and it’s also pictured here, holding the headphones closed, and another set of Cable Tidies are open.

These are the Proporta Cable Tidy.  They are my favorite of all the items reviewed.  I absolutely love them!  They are simple magnetic enclosures that snap shut around cables.  They come in two-packs for $4.95.  In this picture you can see how I used to carry my iPod headphones in sandwhich bags.  You can also see how I’ll carry my new Proporta Coloured Stereo Headphones.  They are Tidy!  Here’s the link.

Proporta makes many different cases.  I tried one type of case, the Alu-Leather, for two different items, the 2nd Generation 20 gig iPod and the Dell Axim x50v.  My iPod is old.  Old and thick.  According to the packaging on the case, my iPod should fit, but it didn’t.  Anyhow, the case is beautiful and what knocked me out was the alluring smell of leather.  Nothing beats that.  Both cases have a "Screen Saver System" that features an aluminum panel sandwiched between leather to protect the screen.  Leather by itself is floppy, so most companies put a piece of plastic or cardboard there, which gives a bit of rigidity, but not protection.  To be sure, you can feel secure knowing that lightweight aircraft grade aluminum is protecting your screen.

My Axim fit like a glove in it’s case.  Two clips hold the Axim (same with the iPod in that case) securely in place.  The tongue at the bottom has a magnetized snap to keep the case securely closed.  If you use GPS, they offer a Magnetic Vehicle Docking System as well.  All in all, the case is very impressive.  At $34.95 it’s also a great value.  Link.

The iPod case is $34.95 Link.  I believe that the 3rd and 4th gen iPods are thinner and will fit the case.

Proporta also sells a Gadget Bag, which was just reviewed by Doug.  It would be perfect to hold all this swag.  I have thoroughly enjoyed reviewing these creatively designed products and would like to thank Proporta for generously providing them.  Again, I’d like to remind you, that we will give three of the products away this week!  Keep your eyes open.
