Vitalist – Very Nice GTD Web and Mobile Web App

Via: Web Worker Daily

I’m a big fan of the David Allen ‘Getting Things Done’ system for time management and staying on top of work and life in general, and constantly on the lookout for tools that help me to use GTD methods along with my mobile devices and tools.

Today I spotted a post by Judi Sohn at Web Worker Daily, covering Vitalist, which is described as: another recent Getting Things Done web application, adding more features (and more complexity) to the concept of tracking projects, contexts and actions in a browser.

Have been trying this out tonight, and it looks great. Free and very quick sign-up (there’s a premium version for $5 a month that adds features like sharing, file attachments, and SSL security).

Working with the app in a browser is easy and performance is good. If you know GTD methods at all, it’s nice to see built-in elements for Contexts and Projects. If you’re not a GTD expert, it also seems easy enough to get to grips with quite quickly.

Read on for some quick impressions of the mobile end of the app …

What About The Mobile Part Though … I’ve seen several other promising web apps whose mobile browser implementation and performance leaves much to be desired. Happily, Vitalist has done a very nice job in this respect. The app performs nicely on Pocket IE on my 8525, and looks excellent. Here’s a couple more screen caps to show that off:

The screens look great and you always seem to be able to see all you need to see at a glance.

Vitalist also has a pretty nifty (is nit still OK to use that word?) Google Gadget available – so you can add your Vitalist stuff straight into your personalized Google Home Page. Nice.

I’m not sure that I’ll move away from Outlook and Pocket Informant etc for all task management – but this is definitely tempting – available anywhere you’ve got web, lightweight and a nice mobile side, and designed specifically to put GTD methods to work. And the ability to share with others and add SSL for a minimal monthly fee.

I will certainly be giving this a good tryout.
