Windows Mobile 6: Coming To A Mobile Device Near You.

Monday is the big day for a lot of mobile device users. That will mark the official unveiling of the new Windows Mobile 6 Operating System. Whether or not this will add merely cosmetic changes to our devices or whether it will significantly increase their functionality remains to be seen. In the meantime, however, Clinton Fitch has been running some fantastic coverage of the release. Here is his link to the Windows Mobile 6 fact sheet. Many of the answers to your questions can be found here, or in the official Windows Mobile 6 Press Release, which is available from Gear Diary.
In addition to the fact sheet, Microsoft will be gradually releasing pictures of the new Windows Mobile 6 devices, such as the Samsung i760 (shown above), which Steve Laser reported on earlier today. Keep checking back often, as Clinton Fitch will be posting additional pictures as they become available.
Finally, just in case you missed it, don’t forget about the new naming conventions. As we reported earlier, the terms Pocket PC, Pocket PC phone edition, and Smartphone will no longer exist in Windows Mobile 6. Instead, they will be called Windows Mobile Classic, Standard, and Professional. Confused by that? So am I. Here are some great charts to help illustrate what the new names mean.
So, get ready. Make sure you get plenty of sleep tonight, because tomorrow, the sun will rise on a whole new world. Well…pretty much the same world as today…only with Windows Mobile 6 in it.
