Broadcom’s New Transformer Chip Is More Than Meets The Eye.

What do you get when you combine Wi-Fi a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and an FM radio on a single chip? For some, this would result in a power hungry contraption that eats energy like Canine Crunchies, but not for Broadcom.

Broadcom, a leader in semi-conductor technology presents the BMC4325 CMOS chip. Beating down any form of competition in its class, the BMC4325 not only is 40% more power efficient, but it is also 25nm smaller than anything else on the market! And that is not even the impressive part. The thing that makes Broadcom’s new chip so amazing are the multiple radios (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM) in a single chip. According to ARNet, who first reported this story, “multiple radios in one chip can be tricky because of self-interference – at least between Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth in the 2.4GHz range. Broadcom believes it has cracked this with its InConcert algorithms that run the two in tandem, either with separate antennas, or sharing an antenna to save space”. Wow! That’s one pretty amazing and powerful chip that is sure to take mobile computing forward.
