Lakeridge Squashes Bugs, Optimize WisBar Advance 2.
I’ve been a user of WisBar Advance 2 for a while now and there was always one bug that really "bugged" me: icons in the task list that don’t work after one closes a program. Problem solved!
Lakeridge Software announced this week, a new update (version 2.8.0.1) of its popular WisBar Advance program. The new update addresses not only the bug that I mentioned, but also numerous others as well.
In addition, with reduced memory usage and rendering optimizations, this new version is a must have for WisBar Advance 2 users! Download it here.
Version 2.8.0.1
Enhancements
- Reduced memory usage
- Added an Italian translation.
- Optimized some of the toolbar rendering code.
Bugs Fixed
- The installer now properly detects if the themes have previously been installed.
- Fixed a bug where the CloseOK shortcut (for assigning to a hardware button) did not work correctly on some skins.
- Made a change to the signal strength detection routines on WM5 devices.
- Removed the flickering in the SIP button on WM5 devices.
- Fixed a bug where the softkey settings in the custom skin were not preserved.
- Made some changes to the system settings applets to accommodate newer control panel applets that don’t follow Microsoft’s "standard".
- Rewrote the notification hooks to make them more reliable and less prone to crashes and not appearing.
- Toolbar buttons that contain both text and images will now display both, instead of just text.
- Programs will no longer leave icons in the task list.

I have tried using the version 2.8.0.1 immediately after its release and found it to work as claimed, reducing the memory usage significantly. The other updates are also working well on my 6965, making it a whole new experience. Now I am leaving it installed and running on my PPC and hope that the next release of WAD will be a lot more stable.
