HeroCraft Announces the Release of Ball Rush Aqua

Posted by: dgoldring on Jan 31 2007 - 1,122 views

HeroCraft, today, announced the release of  Ball Rush Aqua, a new Arkanoid clone, for Smartphones and Pocket PCs today.

Ball Rush Aqua combines modern technology with a much beloved classic.  Building on the brick smashing fun of Arkanoid, Ball Rush Aqua adds numerous updated levels, including complete underwater worlds.

Unlike most Arkanoid or brick-buster type games, the object is not necessarily to destroy all of the bricks.  Instead, you need to open a path to the upper part of a screen, and pass to the level.  Ball Rush Aqua contained over a hundred  original locations on two levels of difficulty.  Not to mentioned dozens of opportunities to earn bonuses, which make the game-play even more captivating and attractive.

Game features include:

  • Outstanding  graphics
  • Dynamic backgrounds
  • 128 unique levels
  • 13 kinds bonuses
  • 13 types of blocks
  • High score table
  • Background stereo tracks
  • High-quality sound effects

Download the free trial or purchase the game for $14.97 at the JAMM Store.

Keep watching JAMM for my review of Ball Rush Aqua coming soon.

If Turtles Could Fly

Posted by: Steve Laser on Jan 31 2007 - 1,117 views

My surround sound stereo is a bit dated, but it does the job.  I have a Sony 5.1 receiver, a DVD player, a vcr, Tivo, 4 small speakers, a center channel, a bass speaker.  I also have an old big screen that isn’t HD.  So this is probably typical of what most people have.  My system is probably 10 years old, but the newer systems are essentially the same.

What I want is a computer based entertainment system.  I want to store movies and mp3s on my system and simply access them via remote control from my couch.  Isn’t this what the media center version of the Windows XP OS is supposed to be?  Just add some gaming, a big monitor, speakers, wifi and whatever else you like and you’re good to go.

And Now For Something Completely Different…

Posted by: dgoldring on Jan 31 2007 - 601 views

I am just going to come right out and admit that this is not really a mobile device…or at least that calling it a mobile device is going to be a huge stretch.  Almost as big a stretch as calling a Macintosh a computer (sorry, I could not resist that one).

We all have our hobbies that seem to creep onto the site from time to time.  You may have noticed Patrick’s abundance of posts about miniature remote controlled helicopters a while back.  Well, for me, it is universal remote controls.  I currently use a Sony Remote Commander, which is good, but getting dated, and is in need of a replacement.  The top of the heap, so to speak, as far as consumer remote controls, is the Logitech Harmony.  I have been eyeballing this one for some time.  Unfortunately, my wallet keeps eyeballing me back.

Recently, Logitech unveiled their new Harmony 1000 Advanced Remote Control and, as usual, The Boy Genius Report has one of the first units (how does he do it?).  Unlike the previous Harmony incarnations, this one is larger and square shaped.  It does not look like a standard remote control.  Which is good, because this remote is anything but standard.

The Boy Genius seemed to like this remote control a lot, and posted a full pictorial display on his site.

The Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Remote Control retails for $499.99.  For that much money, though, here is what you get:

  • One-touch activity controls
  • 3.5" touch screen
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Online setup for over 175,000 devices (plus macros)
  • Help button troubleshoots your A/V system with you

For more information, check out the Logitech web site.

Why re-invent the wheel … Homescreen guide published at PocketNow.com

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Jan 31 2007 - 964 views

SOURCE

Honestly I had every intention of writing a guide myself, and I still might but for right now I don’t feel like re-inventing the wheel - Head on over to PocketNow.com and check out the (what I would call a beginners) guide to homescreen design. Now by the time it’s all over you won’t have anything like what you see above … but you’ll have a darned good start!!!

Seriously, this is very well written with some images and code examples to help you get started. And once you have your foot in the door … head on over to the Jamm Forums and show us what you’ve got - I’d love to see them!!

iProng Hands-on: All five iPod shuffle colors (with pictures)

Well … given the ultra quiet release (really only via email with little flair) obviously the news isn’t spreading like wildfire but it’s spreading. If you’ve been holding off on getting a new iPod Shuffle …. your day has arrived!

Now, there’s no screen (So Doug … sorry buddy no iPod for you), but there is a handy dandy clip, a (doubtful) 12 hour run time, 1GB of storage, new more comfy headphones and it weighs only half an ounce. Not to mention … there’s pink. Toss that in there with your Granny Panties if you still own a "Classic" Windows Mobile device and you should be hip and happinen on the street  :)

Click the source link above for a hands-on of the New - More Colourful iPod Shuffle!

The Boy Genius Takes A First Look At The Motorola RAZR MAXX Phone

Posted by: dgoldring on Jan 30 2007 - 339 views

Fans of the Motorola RAZR Phone know that the next big thing…the next really big thing, is the MAXX.  The Boy Genius somehow got a hold of the RAZR MAXX Ve (the Verizon version).

Here is what he had to say:

Sportin’ a much larger external display than it’s GSM cousin, the Verizon unit looks dramatically better. Some other changes are a 2 mega-pixel Auto Focus camera, and keypad layout. Everything seemed to be pretty fast, for a Verizon UI. The camera worked very well auto-focusing shots before taking the final click, and MP3 controls on the outer screen were responsive.

Not a lot of information, but he does post a myriad of great photos.  So, head over to The Boy Genius Report and take a look at the next cell phone you will not be able to afford.
