Engadget Reports There Could Be A Growing Feud Between Your Zune and the Record Companies

Well, if Engadget got this one right, it could mean yet another blow for Microsoft’s much hyped, but embattled Zune Media Player.  Apparently, Sony and Universal, two of the major music recording labels have decided not to "join the social."

Sony Music and Universal Music Group are marking certain artists as "prohibited" for sharing with your Zune.  This means that just because you’ve paid for a song, downloaded it, and found another person who also has a Zune AND wants to listen to the same song, you still may be prohibited from sharing it.

In a non-scientific sampling of popular artists, Zunerama and Zune Thoughts found that roughly 40-50 percent of artist fall under this "prohibited" banner.  I guess for those songs, you will have to resort to the old fashioned method that we used to use in college:  sing it out loud and hope someone else joins in.
