Faster, Stronger, Better: Sprint Wireless 4G Network, Coming Soon to a City Near You

Gizmodo is reporting that Sprint is preparing to unroll its new 4G WiMax  wireless broadband network.  Beginning in 2008, WiMax will be available to customers in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

The new network boasts 2-4Mbps speeds, which means it will be considerably faster than anything available today.  At $55 a month, however, it will not make a significant impact on your wallet or budget.  WiMax will also be an open access network, meaning they will treat the connections like home broadband lines.

So, if you have been thinking about upgrading to the new Blackjack or iPhone, or even to a different Smartphone, maybe you should think twice…especially if you live in the D.C. or Chicago areas.  Oh, and if you are listening, Sprint, Adam Frucci from Gizmodo would like to put in his vote for New York City as the third city on the roll out tour.
