Let Your Fingers Do The Walking…Literally
I’m not sure I would buy this, but at least it shows that innovation is alive and well in the cell phone market. Yankodesign is featuring a wearable mobile device. Instead of key, buttons, or even a touch screen, your fingers actually become the buttons, thanks to a touch sensitive laser. The wearable mobile device is easier and lighter than other cell phones, and can access state of the art 3.5G, 4G communication standards.
It works by illuminating virtual buttons on all of your fingers (excluding the thumb). Each finger joint makes up twelve buttons, creating the familiar 3X4 keypad found on most cell phones. No word on on which carriers will offer this device…
This may even be a little too geeky for me. I am glad, however to see that the mobile device market is anything but stagnant.

It’s nice to see innovation, but I think it would probably still be faster on the pad as you get solid buttons to press. And it just feels weird to press on your own skin with the concept of numbers and letters – it’s getting too close to cyborgs for me. Guess this reminds me of some of the political cartoons that I’ve seen….where people get implants of control interfaces into them or a cell phone replacement of the hand so it is always with you.
I agree, Doug, too geeky for me.
