Doug…
Go here. Read the whole thing. If you don’t come back with a more open mind about this thing, you must not be using a Microsoft product

Seriously (not just you Doug) – everyone get over the fact that its OSX. We don’t run XP on our phones we still run a subset of CE – 10 year old technology – think Windows 95.
When was the last time you were typing along on a built-in (not third party keyboard) with your fingers? And was it predictive? Did it correct your errors?
Full web browser Safari (not 30% IE). Nothing pisses me off more than PIE. And don’t give me the minimo/opera thing… neither works worth a damn on smartphone, heck Opera won’t even give up a WM5 version for the smartphone.
Look at the pictures on Engadget. Those are pictures from THEIR seats to a PROJECTED image!!! And it still looks frickin amazing. It’s got to be VGA, but looks more like SVGA?
If Apple pulls this thing off the same way they did with the iPod, and the ease with which they moved to Intel hardware… I don’t think you’ll see another Windows Mobile based off the same design we’ve got now. I think you’ll see Microsoft run to the hills and start re-inventing the wheel.

Oh… and one more thing (just so I don’t fanboy it up too hard) …
This thing will fail miserably if they don’t put 3G in it. They need to figure out how the heck to do it, but it needs 3G. Wifi is nice … but a full browser without 3G on Cingular’s I want commit suicide while I wait Edge network is going to be useless.
That and I hope Cingular doesn’t try to pull out too big of a broomstick with which to attack my wallet/backside with. $600 phone $100/mo plan = no way my wife will allow it.

Brandon, I think you are right that if this phone is moderately succesful, you will see a lot of other phones running out to copy the technology and offer something along a similar line. I could see arriving at a point with two basic smartphone designs. The Treo/Blackjack with a hard keyboard…and this one.
My problem with MC OSX is twofold: 1) I have used Mac OSX and I am just not a fan of that whole operating system (so go ahead and call me a hater). Two, I have spent a lot of money on apps to get my PPC running the way I want it. I don’t want to have to purchase those apps again…or worse, have an operating system with no apps. As Patrick said, that has always been Mac’s problem, a lot of the better apps are not compatible.
