SoftMaker Announces SoftMaker Office 2006 Versions for Linux and FreeBSD


SoftMaker Office is already considered the best Office program available for any Pocket PC running the Windows Mobile operating system.  Its features are numerous and well documented.  We even provided you with a review of the program when it was released.  Now, this outstanding program is also available for Linux and FreeBSD based systems.  SoftMaker has decided to permanently bundle SoftMaker Office 2006 for Linux and for FreeBSD together in one package, without raising the price.

SoftMaker Office 2006 includes TextMaker (word processing) and PlanMaker (spreadsheets) in one integrated package.  Together, TextMaker 2006 and PlanMaker 2006 cover most of the functions users require from office suites.  It comes in a single package costs $69.95 ($49.95 for either TextMaker or PlanMaker individually).  A free 30-day trial version is available for download.

If you have already purchased the Linux or FreeBSD version of
SoftMaker Office 2006 and would like to receive the "missing" version, you can contact their support department at info@softmaker.de.  They plan to make it available to existing users free of charge.

Additionally, SoftMaker also announced the SoftMaker Office for Linux and for FreeBSD has been added to their educational sponsorship program.  This program was created to support schools, universities, teachers, and students by providing SoftMaker Office software for a nominal charge to eligible institutions and individuals.  SoftMaker Office for Linux and FreeBSD is available through this program for only $13 for a school site license, and $14 for students.  To learn more, check out SoftMaker’s Education Page.
