Over to The Dark Side – Got a Zune
Well, some will say it’s the Dark Side. I’ve never owned an iPod, and I’m really a rookie (and way behind the times) when it comes to Portable Media Players – and have decided to give Zune a go.
And in fact I got two Zunes – one for me, one for The Spouse. I’ve been tempted by the Zune ever since the rumors started firming up on its release, and after reading and increasing number of good recent reviews (especially Matt Miller’s The Mobile Gadgeteer column after 3 weeks use), I snapped up a couple of them.
Like Matt, I do not own a huge music collection and really like the unlimited music for $15/month Zune Marketplace option, and the sharing features. I definitely am also hoping that future firmware updates will open up wireless and that other improvements will be made quickly – but for now, I’m liking it, and have already grabbed tons of music to throw on it.
Also just found a *free* app called FeedYourZune, that looks pretty slick for adding Audio and Video podcasts to the Zune, managing your subscriptions etc.

Yay! Congrats on your first DAP Patrick.
I was able to play around with the Zune at CompUSA, and kinda like it alot specially with the built-in FM tuner. What I like a lot, also is the one that I’m a little disappointed. I mean the radio interface is really nothing to brag about. I’m not sure if there’s a “skin” that you could load up to make it a bit “pretty”.
Anyway, I might pick up one Zune.

Cheers Nowire – I was thinking about skins for it earlier, but haven’t had a chance to go looking …
