Alltel To Bundle Sharpcast!

"This is very significant for Sharpcast and for other mobile startups in general. For Sharpcast, being added to the Alltel deck goes way beyond simply validating the excellence of their application, in fact, it is almost a guarantee that the company will succeed." – Oliver Starr at Mobilecrunch.com

Sharpcast and Alltel Wireless today announced that Sharpcast Photos has been selected as the standard and exclusive photo sharing and synchronization application for Alltel Wireless’ line of Windows Mobile-powered smartphones, including the new Palm Treo 700wx and the UTStarcom PPC6700. Sharpcast Photos will be available on most new Windows Mobile smartphones from Alltel Wireless. Any existing Windows Mobile phone owner can download the application and sign up for their free Sharpcast Photos account at www.sharpcast.com/Alltel. From that site, customers can sign up to trial the service with up to 5 GB free storage or may choose to upgrade with a monthly subscription.

More great news from Sharpcast – getting their app ‘bundled’ with Alltel smartphones. The Mobilecrunch post – quoted from at the top of this post – really nicely lays out why this is an ‘everybody wins’ situation in many ways. This is very good for Sharpcast, provides a great application (for free) to Alltel users, helps Alltel encourage greater data plan usage, and looks like a good omen for mobile software publishers generally.  Check out Oliver’s post here.

Sharpcast have also announced today a new and improved version of their client for Windows Mobile 5 devices (with more devices supported).  If you’ve got a Windows Mobile device with a camera, you should really check this app out – the new mobile edition is available at:
