The Wall Street Journal Online has an interesting debate article up, on whether Microsoft is driving innovation or playing catch-up – with two leading ‘Tech’ bloggers debating this subject, Dave Winer and Robert Scoble.

It’s a quick but wide-ranging debate – with mention of Apple’s lead in the desktop OS area back in 1989 vs. now, comparisons of Microsoft to IBM, lots of talk about Google vs. Microsoft and so on.

Where do you think MS stands in terms of being an innovator in the mobile arena? Are Windows Mobile devices and the Windows Mobile OS leading the way, or playing catch-up?
