PTTFix – Makes the Push-to-Talk Button Usable on the Cingular 8525
"This little app replaces the Cingular PTT service and adds customizable launch capabilities back to that useless PTT button on your Cingular ROM equipped Hermes. This patch initially maps the PTT button to the built in Voice Dialer, but you can re-map the push as well as the hold functions to the application of your choice."
Thanks to MVT at Treo Central forums for providing the link to this, and to Sleuth255 at the xda-developers forum for providing this very handy little fix for the (currently) purposeless Push-to-Talk button on the Cingular 8525.
I’ve tried this out and it does what is says – works like a charm. Lets you map applications to that button – shows it as Button 5, and lets you map an app to a press of that button, and (if desired) a second app to a press and hold on the button.
It’s simple to install – via a .cab file, and should be installed to the device, not a storage card!
As always, very cool stuff from the xda-developers forum. For all the information and download please visit:

angel – sorry to hear that. I have not used Smart Dialer, so not sure why there’s an issue.
