C|NET Prize Fight – Motorola Q vs. T-Mobile Dash

I promise not to tell you the winner – but the T-Mobile Dash is the overall winner – crap – I did it again. Well we’ve seen a ton of various phones come to market and be named "The Q Killer", and it seems like the Dash may be the one. Now honestly I’ve spent about 10 minutes with each phone and while I couldn’t possiby come up with nearly the technical specs comparison between the two devices I have to admit if you gave me the choice – I’d pick the dash… It just felt better in my hands and just gave me a better overall feeling about the device. I was very, very tempted to pick one up, but I’m still waiting on the Treo 750.
Anyway, for anyone else who may be on the fence about these two devices – C|NET has a great head to head battle (in C|NET shortform) available HERE.
PS – if you checked out my earlier tip HERE you already have this battle in your "Now Playing" list on C|NET video!

Hey Brandon, go for it! This phone rocks! I’m still trying to get used to to the fact that it’s a smartphone, and no touchscreen, but real minor adjustment for me.
And like most sites have mentioned, the Dash is not really one of those “photogenic” type of device. If you’re thinking of getting the Dash now, and still not sure if you really want to, go see it, touch it, feel it, etc. and most likely you will get it.

I’ve played with it for a few minutes and I really did like it. BUT I’m still not sold on the WM5 smartphone software. I’ve got a T-Mobile SDA (unlocked) coming my way this week so I can get some time playing with a true smartphone and see what they can and cannot do … but I’ve got jitters waiting for the new Treo and I don’t think I’d be happy if it came out and I had just plunked down my cash on a dash.
Once the Treo is out I’ll do my personal compare and contrast and make the decision then. I’m glad you like yours though & thanks for allowing us to post the pics. I think you’re right though, the dash isn’t helped by pictures. It’s a totally different device when you see it in person as opposed to seeing it online.

I recently seen your video blog on cnet tv were you compared the Motorola Q to the T-Mobile Dash. You said that the Q had a scroll wheel just like a blackberry. But I just discovered that the volume strip on the Dash can be used as a scroll wheel just like a blackberry. The applications is called SetJogBar, which can be found on http://dashapps.googlepages.com/
Check it out and tell me what you think now of the Dash.
