SPB Imageer 1.5 Reviewed at Clinton Fitch
Posted by: PatrickJ on Oct 30 2006 - 694 views
"The latest version of the application (version 1.5) is powerful and feature rich. Best of all, it is very fast and simple to use straight away making it the perfect application for on-the-fly photo editing with Windows Mobile devices."
Clinton Fitch has just done a good review of the latest version of SPB Imageer (1.5), a photo editing program for Windows Mobile.
He’s got lots of good screencaps and a thorough rundown of the application’s capabilities.
Give it a read at:

New (thin) E-Ten x500 coming soon?
Posted by: Brandon Steili on Oct 30 2006 - 821 viewsThe first pictures of the E-TEN x500 are starting to appear around the net. The nice thing about this new offering is that E-TEN has started to look at the rest of the market and realize that thin is in. (Obviously not related to vehicles here in the US), thin really is where the converged market seems to be headed and I for one couldn’t be happier. I carry a Cingular 8125 around all day long and the thing is a pig (or atleast as thick as one).
To give you an idea of how "thin" this phone is:
Cingular 8125 - 22.86 mm
Samsung i320 - 11.5 mm
E-TEN x500 - 15.5 mm
E-TEN 600+ - 22 mm
Obviously the x500 is not going to be the thinnest mobile on the market, but it’s a step in the right direction. More pictures and a couple review links can be found on the E-Ten forums - HERE

i-mate K-Jar = Not a Worthy JasJar Successor?
Posted by: PatrickJ on Oct 29 2006 - 1,289 views
Via: Modaco.com
“Well, the K-Jar is neither made by HTC nor anything to really shout about either.” - nedge2k at Modaco.com
That’s the upcoming i-mate K-Jar above. This has been viewed as a sort of a JasJar successor, but now it looks like not so much.
Modaco has a post up with some details of this new device which is not made by HTC, but by Tech faith Wireless for i-mate - including some pretty unexciting spec details:
- 2.8″ QVGA touch screen
- TI OMAP 750 CPU (speed?)
- 128MB ROM
- 64MB RAM
- Wi-Fi (802.11?)
I think I’d have to agree with nedge2k’s verdict in the quote at the top of this post. Maybe the photos just don’t do it justice, but this device just looks ugly and pedestrian compared to the JasJar too. Perhaps the folks at i-mate are really wishing they could put in a call to HTC right around now?
For more pics of this device, check out the Modaco post at:

Registry Hacks To Restore the Dash’s JOGGR Functions at Msmobiles.com
Posted by: PatrickJ on Oct 29 2006 - 3,972 views
Via: Mobility Today and Msmobiles.com
Apparently the T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur) is crippled out of the box on its JOGGR (touchpad-like) abilities, and has only volume up and down functionality. But … some intrepid users have hit upon the right registry key changes to restore this functionality, as follows:
With registry editor you need to set:
- HKCUControlPanelJogBarSettingsBottomKeyApplicationName = Windowsiexplore.exe
… to convince bottom key of the JOGGR to invoke Pocket Internet Explorer - HKCUControlPanelJobBarSettingsTopKeyApplicationName = BACK
… to convince top key of the JOGGR to perform "back" function while Internet browsing - HKCUControlPanelJogBarSettingsSwitchToAudioFunc = 0
… to make it possible to scroll through web pages by touching JOGGR like you do for example in touch pads in notebooks
As always, you should keep in mind that any registry changes are unsupported and run the risk of trashing your system.
For more information, see the Msmobiles post at:
JOGGR resurrected in T-Mobile Dash …

New ProjecTask - Project Tracking for Windows Mobile
Posted by: PatrickJ on Oct 29 2006 - 766 views
Dreamee Soft (love that name) has just released ProjecTasks for Windows Mobile - which helps you track and manage project status, tasks, and project details.
ProjectTasks looks like it might be a sort of happy medium if you do not use PocketPlan to go the whole hog and interact directly with MS Project, but also don’t find the project management features of something like Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion to be sufficient for your needs.
For more details, have a look at:
