MS Helps Palm Promote Treo 750V in Europe

Msmobiles.com has a short post up highlighting how Microsoft is helping Palm with major billboard type ad campaigns in European countries where the new Treo 750V will be marketed.

The advertisement above comes from Microsoft’s advertising campaign in German railways – both in trains and railway magazine for travelers. The advertisements says "It has e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. And enough place for family photos" and "With Windows Mobile and with Microsoft Office Mobile you are deciding yourself, when, where, and how you want to work".

I’m pretty sure MS has done similar joint campaigns in the US for the Treo 700w series and other devices.

The msmobiles post points out that similar marketing support is not provided by Symbian. It seems to me that this is maybe a place where Symbian is missing the boat – the MS ads must be helping to build the sort of ‘brand image’ of Windows Mobile, and associating it nicely with very cool new phones like the Treo 750V and others.

That seems a very smart tactic, to build awareness of the OS and – in the absence of anything similar from Symbian – work towards a day where consumers increasingly will ask ‘Is that a Windows Mobile phone?’
