Quick Tip: Tivo the newest gear

Ok, so you want to know how to find out about the coolest new gear? TIVO. Ok, maybe you won’t get all the latest dirt on what’s about to hit the market, but you’ll definitely see some cool stuff that I personally would love to get my hands on. For example I just spent the last 20 minutes watching some mini-reviews about Cell phones that are out in Europe and may not even make it here to the US of A. How? C|Net. (Side Note: Does anyone actually buy the $500 gold plated Dolche Razer?)
So, to the point of this quick tip - If you own a Tivo … and have broadband (This may work with dialup but it may take forever) – try this:
Click the Tivo button, then highlight and select Showcases & TV Guide. See that litle C|Net banner? Click that!— Now be warned, because it looks like Tivo is upgrading the TivoCast service, so this location will be changed. According to my Tivo you can find the TivoCast section online at www.tivo.com/tivocast or once the upgrade is complete it will be in TiVo Central, Find Programs – then TivoCast.
Either way these weekly broadcasts from C|Net are excellent for the gear hungry as they cover everything from the latest cell phones to the latest iPods!! Also, you might want to check out HGTV’s I Want That – Tech Toys. Another wonderful show to make you drool over all the stuff you likely can’t have…

IS there a good free alternative to tivo. My freind has this small little box that connects to his mac( it is only for mac) which allows him to see the tv on one screen/ both and record the tv show.
All he had to do was pay for the box which was $20.
I was wondering if there are any alternatives to tivo that are pretty cheap/freeware and work for a pc.I have tried searches but can’t fin anything so I was wondering if guys could help.
Thank you very much for your help.

Here’s a couple quick ones I found. Generally you’re going to need at minimum a PC and PC TV Tuner…
