1st Monday GiveAway Contest – 5 FREE Copies of NewsBreak

CONTEST DEADLINE: Friday October 6th, 8:00pm US CDT

For the first Monday of the month we’ll continue with our monthly giveaway promotion with Ilium Software. This month we have 5 free copies of the excellent NewsBreak RSS application from Ilium!

As mentioned before at this site, there are a number of very good mobile RSS products out there – but NewsBreak is my own favorite by a wide margin. It is very, very solid, plays nicely with the OS and other apps, never hangs up, looks fantastic, and is simple and fun to use.  Can honestly say I use it heavily every single day.

Read on for more detail and how to win …

Here’s some of the great features of NewsBreak:

  • Alerts – NewsBreak’s "search and alert" technology
scans your important news feeds and lets you know when an event you care about has taken place. If you want more detail, NewsBreak shows you the complete story using familiar Pocket IE technology.
  • Increase Your Productivity – Stay updated on recent events, and turn wasted time into useful time by reading your news anytime, anywhere.
  • News Headline Management – NewsBreak keeps track of what you’ve read, and shows you what’s new.
  • Efficient Communication – NewsBreak updates your headlines only when the info has changed, saving on your battery life and your wireless bill.
  • Complete wireless and ActiveSync passthrough support – Use with your WiFi, Bluetooth, or Pocket PC Phone Edition or Smartphone carrier connection, and when connected to your PC.
  • Custom icons, Today Screen support, landscape and high-resolution support.
  • Complete support for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition.
  • Support for Google Gmail and other feeds that require authentication.
  • Ilium Software’s world-class toll-free tech support.

I downloaded the newest trail version. The best part of newsbreak is that it has a today plugin that alerts you (based on your settings) when something new arrives. Something that no other ppc application can do to my well, if not at all.

Another feature is the way the pictures and text are presented in a clean manner, and the logo of the website placed on the upper left!! Very nice!

I love this application!!

I downloaded a trial version and I like the fact that I can add any RSS based feed. So, I have added somenewsgroups feeds and some forum feeds.

Put me in for two chances!

Entry 1….posting…yay!
Entry 2….Screenshot
Entry 3….I like how it does list the number of news feeds that are new on the Today screen. However I’d like to actually be able to view some items on the Today screen.

Well, that took some time to get registered because of the outage. But since I have an interest in NewsBreak, it will be worth it. Entry 1 complete.

I like how easy NB was to install and configure. Time to start and get my first feed configured and downloaded was less than one minute. Doesn’t get much easier than that. Entry 2 complete.

Screenshot. Entry 3 complete. And since my screenshot is of my JAMM feed, I should get a bonus fourth entry, right? :-)

Running trail version on my iPAQ hw6915 (Square). Today screen plugin is great. Updates without errors or human intervention over my GPRS connection. All in all the best RSS reader i’ve seen.
If i don’t win a copy I will be registering anyway!

I like the way RSS feeds are viewed. It’s as easy as checking my email.

I used to use Egress, but I think NewsBreak looks a LOT smoother!
I also really appreciate the easy one-hand usability.
My main suggestion would be to improve the today screen plugin,
as that is something a lot of people take into consideration when orienting on a RSS Reader.

I installed the trial and I hope I don’t need to uninstall it again! :)
