scanR – Scan, Copy, Fax Service for Camera Phones

This looks like a very cool new service, and it’s free.

With scanR, you just snap a photo – of a business card, document, or whiteboard contents for example – and mail it to the scanR address, then (once you’ve activated an account there) you get back a .pdf file version of your scanned image. It will also send to fax machines in the US or Canada.

There are some requirements in terms of the size / quality of the original photo you send to scanR (2 megapixel camera in various places) but these are very clearly stated at their site, and if you submit a pic that isn’t large enough, for example, you’ll get back a brief message advising you of that and giving you the specifics on how to correct it and resubmit.

I spotted this at C. Enrique Ortiz’s Mobility Weblog.
