remotePROTECT – Device Security Program

Security for mobile devices is a an always-interesting topic for me. And one that I believe will only continue to grow in importance for smartphone and mobile device owners.

remotePROTECT looks like an interesting application for remote protection if your device is lost or stolen. This may be a good option if you don;t work with an Exchange 2003 SP2 server (which offers remote wipe and other security features). I’ll try to give this a spin very soon.

It’s compatible with all Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition and Windows Mobile 5 devices, and its features include:

* Kill device, complete device wipe including SD card
* Lock device, displays a lock screen for user password entry
* Unlock device, unlocks the device.
* IMSI and IMEI information can be retrieved from the device
* SIM change protection , if the SIM is changed then a message is sent to a predefined telephone number stating the IMSI and IMEI numbers.
* Second SIM support
* CDMA Support
* All Language ROMs now supported
* Updated KILL, it will now LOCK the device whilst the KILL is in progress
