Handango has got a $60 million injection of funding, to "aggressively extend its leadership position in the fast-growing smartphone content market."

Interesting piece on Yahoo Finance on this, with some impressive sounding numbers for projected growth in the ’smartphone’ userbase and some very strong statements about the demand for applications and content for smartphones exploding in the near future.

I’m definitely in favor of Handango putting some money into improving services – like maybe getting rid of their ‘Download Protection’ charges, a little more vetting of applications that appear on their site, and improvement of the In Hand application for use on mobile devices?

It would also be great if Handango helps to introduce useful applications to a whole group of newer users who aren’t aware of all the powerful things they can do on their mobile devices.

Anyone else got any suggestions for Handango on how to spend their new cash?

Step 1. Stop the Download “extortion” charge.
Step 2. Invest in some better hardware because their site is sloooow.
Step 3. “googleize” the site. In other words, fix the search functionality. Searches on that site turn up the most random stuff … or page after page of themes when I do a simple search for something.
Step 4. Include a flyer in every box for a new mobile device w/ a coupon code for 20% off.
Step 5. Rinse and repeat!
