Apparently HTC has a successor to the Universal (aka JASJAR and various others) that’s in the works and expected by late this year to early next year.

Codenamed the HTC Omni, Modaco reckons the new device may be slightly slimmer, will continue to have VGA support, plus HSDPA, and the facility to output to a projector.

Very good news for owners / fans of the Universal – and even for some of us who have never got our hands on a Universal but are keen to try out this form factor.
