More Boy Genius Details on Blackberry Desktop Manager & New 8100 Model

Source: Engadget

“The way the Pearl is designed and works, it’s much more like a featurephone — which is a huge improvement — but people can get plenty of devices that outshine the 8100 in features” – Boy Genius excerpt via Engadget.

Two more good posts added this weekend from Boy Genius over at Engadget – one on impressions of using the new Blackberry 8100 Pearl device, and the second on the new Blackberry Desktop Manager.

I’ve gotta say, that new Desktop Manager looks very slick, and could maybe teach MS and ActiveSync a thing or 200.

His impressions of the new 8100 – in terms of its mass consumer market appeal – are not gushing. It seems to me that – apart from needing to produce a winning product – RIM may also face a bit of an uphill battle in getting past its own well-established image in this space – as in, when people think of Blackberry they do not think of media player, camera, and some of the other features that they’re now adding to some of these new devices.
