VoiceMinder – Smartphone / PDA Ambassador
Have you ever tried showing a friend (who’s NOT a mobile geek type) your latest / greatest mobile device or super-cool new application you run on it? Something you think is ‘grab you by the throat’ interesting – and it draws a reaction of: blank stare, cartoon question mark above your friend’s head, or just plain ‘you’re weird’ look in their eyes?
For those of us who are mobile enthusiasts / addicts, there are always new applications that grab our attention and interest. It’s rare though for a mobile app to immediately get a big reaction from more novice users or those who don’t use a PDA or smartphone. VoiceMinder is the exception to this rule!
I’ve been enjoying VoiceMinder since its beta release (and purchased it yesterday) and often showing it to friends, clients etc. lately. And … they get it. Instantly. No blank looks – just an immediate feeling that they also think that it is very cool, very useful.
I’m sure this reaction is based on the fact that this app is simple and brilliant. As with many things, simple ideas work best, and translate best.
So I now think of VoiceMinder as a great program, but also as a sort of ambassador for smartphones / PDAs / and usage of mobile devices.

Thanks for the reminder … I need to go register this app. It’s excellent and one of things we should all have.

They’ve got Release Candidate 3 up at the WebIS forums now – apparently the PPC version is pretty much finalized, but they are still working on the Smartphone version, and asking for feedback …
