Custom Handheld ‘Hacking’ / Testing Device Announced

Eweek.com has an interesting article up about a soon-to-be released new dedicated handheld device, to be used in security testing / pen testing of corporate networks. 

Apparently early versions of the ‘Silica’ device come pre-loaded with 150 exploits from the Canvas security testing software from Immunity, a leading security services vendor. The article points out the advantages in terms of portability and stealth that a device like this will offer during testing. 

Canvas is a very blue-chip, leading testing solution – so this device will have a nice head start in reputation terms. It will be very interesting to see the device’s spec when it’s closer to launch, as handhelds currently just don’t have the power to do any real scanning / security testing.
