SafeBoot Encryption / Access Control Product for WM5

SafeBoot has announced a Windows Mobile 5 compatible version of their product for on-the-fly and transparent encryption on WM devices.

There are not that many choices in this area for WM5 devices, and this one looks like it has a strong set of features. It looks like it may be a good option for corporates rolling out WM5 devices and needing strong security on them.

Here’s some of the features listed (in addition to AES 256 encryption):

  • Fully transparent encryption file and folder encryption
  • Encryption of Standard Application Databases – Contacts, Calendar, Speed Dial, Appointments, Tasks, etc.
  • Encryption of Outlook E-mails stored on the device.
  • External / Removable Media Encryption
  • Comprehensive  Password Controls
  • Phone Controls
  • Calls can be received when a user is not logged on
  • SafeBoot can prevent outgoing calls when user is not logged on
  • Administrator’s can define a list of numbers which can be dialled when a user is not logged on

I didn’t see pricing info, but this feels like it is a very corporate-level product, and may have pricing to match. Would like to try this out soon.

Spotted this via a mention at Jason Langridge’s Mr. Mobile site.
