Sony’s new “Wireless Communicator”

Sony has just announced this slick looking "Communicator" device. Armed with a Qwerty Keyboard, 802.11b, 2.4" Color LCD at 320X240, Internal Memory of 1GB, a Li-ion battery (45 hours on music, 7 hours of chatting, and 3 hours of Skype), and expandable memory via Memory Stick Duo. While it doesn’t hold any sort of cellular radio inside, the Mylo argues that with

the abundance of Wifi in the world, who needs a cellular radio. Mylo comes pre-installed with JiWire’s hotspot directory, which lists over 20,000 open WiFi networks in the US. Also included is a copy of Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, and Skype.

Sony’s Mylo can also handle audio files such as MP3, Atrac, and WMA files. A unique feature that Sony incorporated into Mylo is the ability to automatically share your playlist with nearby Mylos. "When you come into range of other mylo users, your mylo will detect their presence and form a personal network so that you can share playlists and stream music." Says Amber Maitland over at Pocket-Lint.co.uk

Apparently this Mylo is bundled with a microphone, stereo headphones, a USB cable, and a case, all for $350. I’m not sure where the market is for this device since you can pick up an HTC Wizard/Apache for that price and the HTC can do so much more. Results to be seen….
