Mini Review – RNS:: TreoSelecText for your Palm Treo

TreoSelecText allows you to use the Shift and 5-Way key combinations to select text in various Palm OS applications.

You: OH, HUM…

Me: WAIT! Don’t go away yet…

There is ONE additional functionality in TreoSelecText that makes it invaluable to any Treo user.

For reasons unknown to mankind, Palm decided to do away with the send-contact-info-by-SMS feature.

TreoSelecText accomplishes this task in an admirable manner.

In the SMS editor, you type in the first few characters of the contact and press the appropriate (user configurable) key combinations to select and open the contacts view. There you can select and enter the information into the SMS… The name and contact info are neatly copied into the SMS editor.

The finer and more significant point in all this is you start from the SMS application rather than from the contacts view. I always found this approach more intuitive.

Now, isn’t that something useful?

Going back to selecting text, it works nicely too. Along with the RNS:: TreoCommandBar, it restores two basic and intuitive means of interaction with your Treo.

TreoSelecText and the TreoCommandBar cost USD 4.95 each.
