Oxios Memory 1.40

Thanks to Nowire for the headsup on this little piece of freeware. He mentioned this seemed to free up RAM better than Memmaid (which I didn’t believe so I had to try it). True to his word the application freed about 1.2 MB (not small change at all) right after a run by Memmaid. Running both applications included in the package (Hibernate and Close Apps) netted me about 1,6 MB. Amazing stuff especially for the low low cost of nothing! It’ll never replace Memmaid or S-K Tools since they are true multifunctional apps, but to quickly free up memory this is staying on my PPC!
From the Site:
Oxios Hibernate 1.40
WM_HIBERNATE is a window message that is generated by the Windows operating system and sent to an application when system resources are running low. All applications should get the message and handle it by attempting to release as many resources as possible by unloading processes, destroying windows, or freeing up as much local storage as possible without damaging the internal state of the system.
Oxios Hibernate sends WM_HIBERNATE to all applications.
Oxios CloseApps 1.40
Each process started on a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone allocates memory, which cannot be released but is automatically freed when the application process ends.
Oxios CloseApps closes down all applications by sending WM_CLOSE messages.

Hi netsyd, really no credit to me. I caught it while browsing though PPCThoughts, and thought that I share it to my fellow Aximster.
But I really vouch for this nifty little program though. Since I own both SKTools and MemMaid, I was actually able to do some testing on this (RAM reclamation), and here is my conclusion.
SKTools (FreeUp RAM):
The Good: Almost, always will/can reclaim available RAM.
The Bad: Very slow in reclaiming. On the bad day takes more than a minute or so to reclaim.
The Ugly: I got impatient and soft-resetted my device while reclaiming. A big no-no. I got the white screen of death. Complete restore was the only way to revive it. (note to self: backup is your friend)…
MemMaid (MemoryClaim:
The Good: Very fast in reclaiming memory (reclaiming something is another story).
The Bad: Most of the time will return with 0, nothing, nada memory reclamation.
The Ugly: Haven’t experience anything ugly on this one (yet).
Oxios Memory:
The Good: Very fast in reclaiming memory, and the returns are pretty generous.
The Bad: Funky icon. lol. Actually I kinda’ like the icon.
The Ugly: None. So far this program is fantastilicious. And best of all it only cost $0.0. Yup. Nada!
Like netsyd, SKTools, and MemMaid will remain on my device, but at least now they will have a little help from Mr. Oxios…
