Nokia N80 Coming Next Month
Posted by: PatrickJ on Aug 31 2006 - 903 views
This Nokia model - which is supposed to be available in the US and Europe come mid-September - is getting quite a bit of coverage and its spec sheet looks pretty good.
Some highlights of its features include:
Obviously, that camera looks pretty sweet, and it’s interesting to see the list of pre-installed apps on there as well as some nice music / media capabilities. Maybe Nokia is going to start making some more noise in the US smartphone market.
For full details and lots of photos, check the Nokia site:

HTC Wiki for Tips, Tricks, Support
Posted by: PatrickJ on Aug 31 2006 - 966 views
Just spotted this tonight via mobileread.com - HTC has a wiki up with lots of good tips and tricks and other information on a broad range of their mobile devices.
The front page is immediately useful just in listing around 18 devices, with their HTC codename followed by all their a.k.a re-badged names from different carriers.
This looks like a useful resource and one to bookmark if you’ve got a Wizard, Apache, Universal or any of the other HTC smartphones and devices covered.

ViewScore - Gadgets Reviews Aggregator
Posted by: PatrickJ on Aug 31 2006 - 1,019 views
Via: TechCrunch
ViewScore is a product review digest that aggregates product reviews on gadgets - PDAs, smartphones, digital cameras, MP3 players and more. One of its slick features is that it ‘normalizes’ scores from sites that use different numeric rating systems (1-10, 1-100 etc) and uses semantic analysis to come up with a number for those that don’t do numeric ratings.
I spent a little time browsing the site, and found it useful and easy to navigate quickly to what you want to see. Within each category (PDAs, Digital Cameras etc) you can choose to filter the results by price range - for instance, digital cameras up to $500. It also has quick links to all the individual reviews, general info about each product, and lets you compare items and recommend or rate reviews.
The PDA section seems a little incomplete for the moment, but the site is pretty new so this will improve quickly I imagine.
Here’s the link for the site:

Tell The Windows Mobile Team About One-Handed Navigation
Posted by: PatrickJ on Aug 31 2006 - 1,111 views
I’m a big believer in ‘one-handedness’ being a major feature on smartphone / Pocket PC devices. Apparently recent feedback from users to the Windows Mobile Team blog shows that a lot of users have been asking for more and better one-handed navigation.
So now the WM Team has a post up asking for more feedback about what we want in terms of one-handed navigation.
This is a nice opportunity to participate in that conversation and share your own thoughts / frustrations / wish list in this area - which seems a crucial one in terms of overall ease of use of all our favorite devices.
Have a look at the post and give ‘em a piece of your mind at:
